Why we built Fact or Fiction News
We are a small, independent project with a simple goal: help people read the news with a clearer head. Misleading claims travel fast, and most of us do not have time to chase down the sourcing behind every headline. We wanted to make that quicker.
What we do
Fact or Fiction News reads a news article or video and gives you an explained credibility score in seconds. It is built to support your judgement, not to replace it. Every verdict shows its reasoning, so you can see why a claim was rated the way it was and decide for yourself.
What we believe
- Show the working. A score without an explanation is just an opinion. We always explain ours.
- Stay independent. Our verdicts are not for sale and are not influenced by who published a story.
- Be honest about limits. Automated analysis is fallible. We say so plainly and make it easy to challenge a result.
- Respect your data. We collect as little as we can. See our Privacy Policy.
How it is made
The credibility analysis is powered by an AI model based on Anthropic's Claude, combined with live web search for deeper checks on individual claims. You can read more about the approach on our Methodology page and its limits in our AI Disclaimer.
